McDonald’s Travis Scott Burger was such a hit that it kept selling out! It’s no wonder since this leveled up Quarter Pounder is topped with two slices of American cheese, thick and crispy bacon, shredded lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Even though they’re not selling it at McDonald’s anymore, you can easily make this epic burger at home!

Travis Scott Burger

Oh my gosh, this really might be the perfect burger! I mean, it really tasted like the best homemade burger ever.

It has a juicy patty that’s perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper, lots of melted American cheese, and thick and crispy bacon. That’s all topped off with crunchy shredded lettuce, thinly sliced onions, and pickles. Then it’s all sandwiched between buttery toasted sesame seed hamburger buns!

Thank you to Travis Scott for the inspiration of this burger, but I’m pretty confident that the homemade version is even better than the one they used to have at McDonald’s.

Ingredients

Ground Chuck: Ground chuck specifically comes from the front shoulders. It’s the perfect blend of lean meat to fat to make the best burgers (80/20). Ground beef can come from other parts of the beef, too. If you see ground chuck, get it! If not, just aim for a medium ground beef that’s an 80/20 blend. 80/20 might sound too fatty, but a lot of the fat will render off and you’ll end up with a really nice juicy burger.

Bacon: Thick slices of applewood smoked bacon are what you’re looking for to make this recipe. Applewood smoked bacon is the perfect balance between smoky and sweet, which tastes incredible on this burger.

Cheese: Each one of these hamburger patties is sandwiches between two slices of American cheese. Having that delicious melty cheese on both sides of the patty really brings the burger to the next level.

Lettuce, Onions, and Pickle: Shredded lettuce and thinly sliced onions adds a crispness and crunch to the burger. The acidity of the pickles help cut through and balance out the rich umami flavors of the burger.

Condiments: For the burger, you’ll need ketchup and yellow mustard. It’s the classic burger condiment pairing and it tastes great here. If you’ll be serving the entire meal, you’ll also need barbecue sauce to dip the fries into.

Spices: The only spices you’ll need to season the ground chuck patties are salt and pepper.

Buns: Sesame seed buns are the way to go for this burger. The sesame seeds add a small amount of a nutty and sweet flavor, but they also add a delicious texture to the buns.

Butter: Smearing the cut side of the buns with just a little bit of butter helps them toast perfectly in the skillet. Butter toasted hamburger buns really do taste so much better than not toasted buns, so this step is totally worth it.

Sides: If you’re going to serve the full meal, you’ll also need a glass of lemon lime soda, fries, and a dipping container of bbq sauce.

How To Make The Travis Scott Burger

Start by spreading a thin layer of butter across the cut side of the sesame seed hamburger buns. Lay the buns buttered side down on a heated non-stick skillet, and cook until the buns are toasted and golden brown. Immediately after taking the buns off the skillet, lay a slice of American cheese on each of the bottom buns. (See the recipe card below for the full printable recipe.)

Toasting sesame seed hamburger buns with butter, then adding American cheese to the bottom half.

Divide the beef into 4 equal parts, then roll each part into a ball. Flatten each ball to make a hamburger patty, then season each side with salt and pepper. Use your thumb to make an indent in the center of each patty (this helps the middle cook at the same rate as the edges, and helps them hold their shape as they cook).

Cook the hamburger patties on one side, then flip and cook on the second side. When the second side is almost finished cooking, top each patty with a slice of American cheese and cooked slices of bacon.

Cooking hamburgers in a skillet, then adding American cheese and cooked bacon slices.

Transfer the cheese and bacon topped patties to the bottom bun halves. Then top the patties with shredded lettuce, sliced onion, and pickle slices. Add ketchup and mustard to the cut side of the top half of the burger buns.

Put the top half of the bun on top of the hamburger patties. Enjoy! See the recipe card below for the full written instructions, including ingredient amounts, cooking times, and helpful tips, etc.

BEST Travis Scott Burger Recipe

The best Travis Scott burger recipe.

McDonald's Travis Scott Burger was such a hit that it kept selling out! Topped with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion, and pickles.

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Total Time 27 minutes

Ingredients

Toppings:

  • 4 slices thick cut applewood smoked bacon (cut in half and cooked until crispy)
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion (sliced thin)
  • 1 large dill pickle (sliced into about 1/8 inch rounds, about 1/3 cup)
  • Ketchup (to taste)
  • Yellow mustard (to taste)

Buns:

  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
  • Softened butter (optional)

Hamburger Patty:

  • 1 pound 80/20 ground chuck beef (medium ground beef)
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper (divided)

Serve With:

  • Shoestring french fries (optional)
  • BBQ sauce (optional)
  • Lemon lime soda (optional)

Instructions

  1. Spread a thin layer of butter on the cut side of the burger buns.
  2. Heat a large lidded nonstick skillet between medium to medium-high heat. Place the buns buttered side down and toast until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes). Toasting the buns with butter gives the buns maximum taste and texture!
  3. Place a slice of cheese on the bottom bun as soon as it comes off the skillet (so that it starts to melt a little).
  4. Divide the pound of beef into 4 equal (1/4 pound) parts. Gently roll the beef into balls then flatten the balls using the bottom of your hand. The burgers should be around 1/4 inch thick, and the width should be slightly bigger than your burger bun (since they will shrink a bit when they cook).
  5. Once you have molded your patties, sprinkle the salt and pepper evenly over top, flip them, and repeat on the other side. Next, use your thumb to make an indent in the center. The indent should be about an inch around. It will help your patty keep its shape and cook evenly (so that the edges and center finish cooking at the same time).
  6. Heat the same large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add the patties to the pan. Cook the burger for about 3-4 minutes per side. Do not press down on the burger while cooking, and only flip once. 1-2 minutes before the patties are done, add a slice of cheese to the top of each patty and top with 2 pieces of crispy bacon. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese. The burger is done when an instant read meat thermometer reads an internal temperature of 160F.
  7. Place the burger patties on top of the cheese on the bottom bun (now there's cheese on both sides of the burger).
  8. Place some of the shredded lettuce on top of the bacon and cheese, then a few slices of onion, followed by the sliced pickles.
  9. Apply the ketchup and mustard to the top bun then flip it over to complete the assembly of the Travis Scott Burger!
  10. Serve with lemon lime soda, fries, and BBQ sauce.

Notes

Making an indent in the center of the hamburger patty with your thumb helps to ensure that the patty cooks evenly. It also helps the burger keep its shape (rather than swelling and shrinking).
